The third trimester pregnancy is the final stage of pregnancy. This stage may be physically agonizing, but the mere thought of your baby in your arms will also make this period, exciting and pleasurable. However, this is also the period when the expectant mother thinks a lot about how to ease her misery and which delivery techniques are likely to make her labor much easier.
The Abdomen Is Expanding
The abdomen is still expanding. During this stage it may reach a point when you will feel as if you are going to burst. Because of this, you are very much likely to experience certain physical changes, such as breathlessness, nausea, and heartburn. The growing weight of the baby also puts increased pressure on your lower pelvis, which may cause severe pain. You may also find it very difficult to stand, lie, or sit in the same position for very long hours. At this time of third trimester pregnancy, you might start looking out for solutions to your problems.
What You Can Do To Get Relief
There are a few things that you can do in order to get you a little relief. For example, since your stomach is already full with the baby still growing and increasing the pressure and since you are probably suffering from breathlessness and nausea, you will have great difficulty in eating much at a time.
Therefore, you are recommended to eat smaller quantities during third trimester pregnancy. Besides that, in order to avoid acid reflux, you should also avoid lying down for at least an hour after taking your meal. Likewise, since there is not much space available in your stomach, you should also try to drink lesser fluid than you normally have after taking your meals. But, make sure that you drink plenty of water when you are not having meals. If you do not drink much water, you may have to suffer from dehydration, which may eventually cause contractions and other complications. During the final stage of pregnancy, you may also experience swelling of the ankles and feet. This happens because of the water retention. In order to avoid the same, a good idea is to avoid sodium rich foods.
Because of the woes of the third trimester pregnancy, exercise is probably the farthest thing on your mind. Still, if there are no complications and if your doctor approves, it is always better to do moderate exercise. Swimming, in particular, can be a great exercise, as it will not only be very helpful in circulation of the blood but will also alleviate some of the pressure that the baby is putting on your stomach. Walking is another good exercise, but you may not feel very comfortable doing it for long. While doing any exercise, if vaginal bleeding occurs or you experience shortness of breath, chest pain, or dizziness, you should stop the activity immediately and visit your doctor during third trimester pregnancy. |
