Recovering After Delivery

Each delivery is unique. How fast you recover after delivery depends on several factors. After a vaginal delivery, an overpowering feeling that you get is that of FATIGUE. The degree of fatigue depends on your general health, the number of labor hours you went through, and the amount of rest you had before going into labor.

The After-delivery Period

The period after delivery is of emotional and physical adjustment. If you had a delivery relatively free of complications, you can expect a speedy recovery. But if you have spent a major period of your pregnancy resting on the bed or if you had a difficult delivery, you will have to be patient to feel "normal" again.

Besides this, your energy levels after delivery also depend on whether you already have kids or this is your first baby. Women, who have other kids to care for, may find themselves more exhausted for an extended period of time after giving birth.

Sex and Exercise

Doctors recommend AVOIDING sex for at least six weeks after delivery. You should give time to your body to heal from the wearing effects of labor and the birthing process. Heavy exercise is also a strict NO during this time. Your doctor may advise you to refrain from driving for a couple of weeks after your baby is born.

Just let your body relax after a tiring nine-month job that’s also loaded with the exhausting hours of labor and delivery.
