Pregnancy Week By Week: Breaking the Pregnancy Period into Easy Bits

Pregnancy week by week is a far more substantial perspective than the standard trimester by the trimester designation, because you can have a firmer grasp of the milestones that you and your baby are experiencing. For instance, when we talk about the second trimester, all we can think of is a baby that “isn’t quite there yet.” This is not at all helpful if you and your closed ones are trying to understand just exactly what to prepare and do through all those weeks. A three-page pregnancy journal just won’t do.

The Second Trimester

As a matter of fact, the second trimester refers to the 15th through 26th weeks. Beginning with the “it’s got a neck!” and concluding with all the vital development all wrapped up, this period can feel quite ambivalently tense at times, so let’s break it into a week by week pregnancy.

It seems a bit frivolous, but the neck actually comes with the hair. As if on cue, the baby will start to make facial expressions. The nails will sprout in a week’s time, along with more muscle fibres in the cranial area. Your uterus will move upwards towards the diaphragm, which gives you a trade-off between less pressure on your bladder and more on your lungs.

Week 18

By week 18, the ears and eyes are complete, and now that the nails are done, the baby will start on the toes and fingertips themselves, in an unconventional priority.

The internal organs are being built at a very rapid rate, and this is one of the reasons why the weeks leading up to the big 20 are sometimes referred to as the danger zone. The baby increases its weight six times over, and if everything goes right at this stage, there is a very good chance that the delivery will go just as smoothly.

There are many developments on other fronts that you will discover once you embark upon a week-by-week perspective. Find out more today at our site.
