Pregnancy symptoms are sometimes confused with other illnesses. Nausea can be a simple example of this. The tendency of nausea does not necessarily mean that you are pregnant. The vice versa is also true. It means even if you are not experiencing morning sickness, it does not mean that you are not pregnant. Some women are lucky enough to experience a smooth journey during the most precious nine months of their lives. Following is a brief rundown on some of the telltale signs that may mean you are going to become a mother.
Missed Period
Missing a period is one of the most common indications that the journey to becoming a mother has just begun. However, it is very important for you to understand that things like weight fluctuation, illness, stress, or taking oral contraceptive pills may also cause a missed period. Therefore, irregular periods alone do not say much. In order to ascertain whether you are pregnant or not, you will have to look at all other changes in your body too.
Changing Size Of The Breast
You are likely to experience some changes in your breasts, especially in the size and tenderness. Just a couple of days after conception, the breasts start becoming ready for breastfeeding. As a result, they begin to enlarge. In some cases, you may even experience a sharp, tingling sensation. However, the good news is that these sensations do not stay for long. They disappear after a couple of weeks.
Morning Sickness
Morning sickness is one of the traditional pregnancy symptoms and one of the most feared ones too. In simpler terms, you will face the tendency of vomiting and nausea. Besides that, you may also experience an occasional fainting spell. It does not necessarily have to happen only in the morning. It can happen at any time of the day and may stay for long. Feeling sick is a very common complaint from women who are expecting. This tendency however disappears towards the end of the first trimester.
Frequent Urination
Along with some or all of the above symptoms, if you are urinating more frequently than usual, it may be a confirmation that you are pregnant. This is one of the most annoying pregnancy symptoms that may appear as early as two weeks after conception because this is the time when the size of the bladder starts reducing, resulting in an increased pressure to urinate. Sometimes, it just feels like that, but you actually do not need to urinate. This happens because of the stimulation of the bladder muscles due to the rising levels of the pregnancy hormone progesterone.
Other Signs
Other symptoms may include constipation, fatigue, darkening of the areola, and changes in taste and smell. Constipation and fatigue obviously do not clearly say anything. They may be caused because of various reasons. However, darkening of the areola is a serious indication that you are expecting.
Overall, you cannot say anything on the basis of just one symptom. You will have to look at all these signs and changes. If you find that more than one pregnancy symptoms are there, you should go for an early pregnancy test. |
