Pregnancy Complications- How to Deal with a Miscarriage

Having a miscarriage during the baby development stages can have a traumatic effect on a woman and her partner. An important part of dealing with the loss of a child after pregnancy is to learn how to honor the memory of your unborn infant. Even though they didn’t make it to delivery, they still played an important role in your life. Honoring and remembering that role can make the loss easier to cope with.

Here are some ways to cope with the loss of baby.

1. Give Them a Name

If you were still deciding on the right baby name during pregnancy, choose one now and name your infant. Think of a name that matches your feelings and emotions. Think of how you would like to remember your baby and choose the name with your heart. Many women find that they are able to have a sense of closure once their child has a name.

2. Souvenirs

Buy yourself a piece of jewelry, a statue, or an ornament as a memorial or souvenir. You can even make your own jewelry or memento- the creative experience of making this kind of souvenir can actually be a wonderful way to express and release your grief. Making something with your partner can be an important way to mourn together and ultimately bond and grow closer.

3. Plant a Tree

One of the most elegant and wonderful ways to remember a loved one is by planting a tree in their honor. Plant your own little sapling in the memory of your lost issue. If you don’t have the space for a tree, contact an environmental organization that deals with reforestation and tree-planting. In return for a small donation, these organizations can plant a small memorial sapling in a state forest or as part of a reforestation project.

4. Give to Charity

There are a number of charities that work to create more awareness about issues surrounding the loss of an infant after pregnancy. Many of them provide counseling and support for parents trying to deal with the loss of their baby. Donating to these charities can help them offer better assistance to other grieving parents. If you have another cause you’d like to give to, consider giving them a donation in your unborn child’s name.

It is important to not only mourn, but also honor the memory of an unborn baby. This can do wonders to heal your mind and heart after your loss.
