Labor And Childbirth – No Big Deal

Labor and childbirth are related. This is the last stage of your pregnancy. This is when you are rewarded with your bundle of joy. All the discomfort and trouble that you had taken in the past nine months simply vanish when you see your baby. You forget everything else in your happiness.

Labor and childbirth is roughly divided into three stages. In the first stage, your contractions will come after long intervals. But they will fade away resulting to nothing. Then gradually the contractions will become more severe. You may bleed a little too. The mucous plug that sealed the cervix will also give way. You will be passing a lot of fluid. This will mean that you have started Labor. Once the contractions occur around 5-7 minutes apart, it is time to visit the hospital. The entire Labor can last around 12 hours if it is your first pregnancy. In the second stage of Labor, your dilation is fully complete around 10 cm. You must push as much as you can and help the baby to come out. The third and the last stage of Labor is when the placenta is expelled. It requires a few more pushes.

There are many ways to reduce Labor and childbirth pain. The most important tip is to relax. You must calm your mind and learn to relax. The tenser you are, the more pain you will feel. If you really want to reduce the pain, relax your body. Try and divert your attention. Think of good things that make you happy. There are also numerous breathing techniques that can help you relax. Doctors also administer epidural. This is a medicine that reduces pain and discomfort to the minimal. During c-section, epidural is used to numb the lower portion of the body. Skilled anaesthetics can only administer this. This is administered through the muscle. It is sedative and after taking it, you do not feel the pain at all.

No pregnancy is same. You will have to deal with it as and when it happens. So it is best not to worry about anything. Make sure you gather whatever information you want. The more you know, the better equipped you are to deal with it. You can also attend birthing classes. There you will meet similar women. You can discuss with them as much as you can and compare your symptoms with them. These classes also teach yoga and other relaxation techniques that can help you to a great extend in dealing with Labor. Enjoy every moment of this special time.
