How To Identify The Signs Of Pregnancy

There can be many different signs of pregnancy. If you know about these signs, you can easily figure out whether you are pregnant or not. However, it is also important for you to understand that every expecting woman does not necessarily show all of those symptoms. Some women experience just one or two while others might have to go through several of them. Once you have conceived, the fertilized egg takes at least 7-10 days to implant itself in the uterus. The body starts experiencing some changes right from the process of implantation. The implantation process causes the hormone levels to change and your body starts reacting to these changes.

Light Spotting
Light spotting may appear a week after the conception or just before the menstrual period is about to begin. In the beginning, the menstrual flow should be light, which will gradually become heavy, but when the period moves towards ending, the flow will start tapering off again.

Increase In Body Temperature
This can be one of the very early signs of pregnancy. When ovulation takes place, it causes an increase in the body temperature. If the temperature remains elevated throughout the menstrual period even after ovulation is completed, it can be a strong indication that you are pregnant.

Tenderness In Nipples
Because of the changes in the hormone levels, you are likely to experience tenderness in breasts and nipples. However, gradually when the body becomes accustomed to the new changes, the feeling of tenderness disappears. Often, swollen or sore breasts are also considered as the first physical symptom of pregnancy. If it is the first time you are getting pregnant, you may find the changes in the nipples and breasts a little painful. This happens because of the increased production of hormones such as progesterone and estrogen. You can say that the breasts start becoming ready for breastfeeding.

Unusual Fatigue Or Tiredness
As we can see that a lot of changes occur in the woman's body within a week of conception and that can be referred as signs of pregnancy. Since the body has to work hard to keep up with all the changes, it often results in unusual fatigue or exhaustion. The increased level of the progesterone hormone is still the main reason why most women experience extra fatigue early in their pregnancy. Progesterone may also cause sleepiness. However, it is not just the increased levels of hormones. Even the heart has to work faster and harder because of the escalation of the blood flow. That is essential to provide the necessary nutrients to the growing fetus.
However, there can be other reasons as well. For example, if it is the first time a woman is expecting and showing signs of pregnancy, she may experience unusual tiredness due to the obvious emotional extremes. It has been commonly noticed that some of them burst into tears for no apparent reason. However, this symptom is not a scary one. You need to sleep more and take extra rest because after the baby arrives, you will need lots of energy to care for the newborn.
