Earlier, doctors used to say that breastfeeding moms should add 400-500 calories to their daily diet everyday. However, the latest research has shown that YOU DON'T NEED EXTRA CALORIES WHILE NURSING. What is needed is a well-balanced diet.
AVOID:
Too much caffeine
Chocolate
Spicy food
Such foods mix with the breast milk and may not be good for your baby. DRINK LOTS OF FLUIDS. Your body releases oxytocin while you nurse, which makes you thirstier.
Although breastfeeding is a natural process, it doesn't come easily. You and your baby have to learn to work in a team! |
