Bleeding During Pregnancy - No Need To Be Depressed
Any women could get jittery on experiencing bleeding, especially when she is on her way to motherhood. There's no need to get panicky as there can be more than one reason behind this...not the only one that she is thinking about.
Although most of the times blood spotting is risk-free, however, it may also be an indication of something that's relatively grim. In fact, spotting brown blood is a sign of old, dry blood that for some reason exists in the cervix. The most widespread example is noticed when you indulge in lovemaking. At this point of time, there is a slight irritation in the cervix that leads to a small slit. It is not big enough to come flowing out just right then. But when you pass urine, and thereafter, clean yourself using a tissue, you might observe the stain on it. But rest assured-unless you are passing bright red blood and clots, brown spotting or bleeding, as you may interpret it to be is pretty harmless.
Bleeding is entirely natural in the early period of conception. One of the grounds for this kind of spotting is termed as implantation bleeding. This can be witnessed nearly a fortnight after conception or around a month since your last menstrual period. One more probable cause why this is happening to your body could be that it is releasing old blood. We cannot term any of these reasons as a cause for concern.
Around fifty percent of pregnant women will continue on to have a hale and hearty baby and the other half may face the possibility of a miscarriage. The first trimester of the pregnancy period is the most likely time when bleeding could occur.
Some women have a blood loss once off; others may bleed right through their entire pregnancy. This may happen in various forms-spotting, streaking, period-like blood loss or more. However, only those women need to visit and discuss their health care providers who have rhesus negative blood groups (e.g. O-, A-). Also, such consultation must be done within 72 hours of every bleed-out.
How Can We Avoid This Bleeding?
It is a startling fact that about 12-13% cases of pregnancy end in a miscarriage. In case of older mothers or fathers, this rate is relatively higher. It's an unfortunate thing that even the most competent practitioner is not able to check first trimester losses. Most of the fetal-loss cases are initiated by fetal chromosomal abnormalities or by fetal developmental abnormalities. The following are the things that you can do if you witness bleeding in the first trimester:
- Discuss your activities with your practitioner.
- Go in for an ultrasound. It may help identify whether the pregnancy is feasible (in good physical shape) or predestined for loss.
- Take much of bed rest, euphemistically called as "pelvic rest". However, this is not a reliable recommendation in some situations. It does not always help prevent first trimester miscarriages.
- Don't put anything into your vagina until the bleeding has stopped: no douching, no tampons, and no intercourse.
- Resume sexual relations only when your bleeding problem has been resolved.
It is generally recommended not to go for sexual intercourse if there is bleeding, as germs can get up into the uterus more easily. Thus, it is best to avoid chances of any kind of mishap before it is too late.
