When And How To Avoid Pregnancy
A woman often feels immense joy in becoming a mother. A baby adds a new dimension to life. But there are times when we may not be ready to experience this bliss. There can be many valid reasons to avoid pregnancy. An unintentional motherhood can be seriously overwhelming.
Here are some common reasons why many people decide to use birth control:-
1. Wrong age. The teenage years are not right for a girl to become pregnant.
2. There could be future career plans that have no space for parenting. In professions like modeling, there are legal bindings about not having a child for a certain number of years.
3. The couple may not have enough income or resources to start a family.
4. The family is complete and there is no desire for another child by the couple.
5. The couple desires some years’ gap between their children.
It is not easy to be pregnant and endure huge physical and emotional stress at that time. A woman should ideally bear a child only if she wants one. Otherwise, it turns into a very difficult situation.
There are many methods of birth control, such as:
• Abstinence- The female does not engage in sexual activity at all. There is absolutely no intercourse or even physical contact. This is the only method that guarantees a 100 percent risk proof way to avoid pregnancy.
• Condoms- Latex condoms are a common method of birth control. They also provide protection against AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases. The only concern here is the rupture of condom during intercourse.
• Birth control pills- These pills are commonly available both over the counter and by prescription. These do not allow fetal development inside the body. This method is not fool proof against conception.
• Spermicidal measures can also help one avoid pregnancy. If you suspect you are pregnant, there are plan B contraceptive pills available too.
You must remember that there are no half measures in birth control. There are only two states- yes and no. Either a woman is pregnant or she is not. Do not take things in estimation. Birth control is a power we have to shape our lives.
It helps us make a choice about what we want and when we want it. There must be no moral or psychological baggage when deciding to avoid pregnancy.
